Ginger and Sol met when Ginger was travelling in Africa……
Skoolz4Kids sprung from an idea I had following my move to The Gambia in 2011.
Witnessing vast numbers of kids, who were literally wearing rags, running bare foot in the dirt I wondered two things. Why were they so disheveled and why were they not in school? It was not my first visit to the continent, so I was more than familiar with the poverty that is pan Africa.
Yet something about these kids grabbed my heart.
I asked a few friends back home to collect used clothes for me to bring back after my next visit and I then sent them photos via facebook of the children wearing them. For my next birthday a close friend offered to pay the school fees for one of the children to attend school and from that first kind offer we now have 235 kids attending school that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.
